Fantastic franchise results for Nissan in new survey  5th March 2010

Strong sales, a great product range and class leading new models in the pipeline – is it any wonder that Nissan dealers are amongst the most satisfied in the UK? The results of the latest National Franchised Dealers Association (NFDA) Dealer Attitude Survey are in, and Nissan has shown significant improvements in several areas to become the 8th most valued franchise in the UK.

The latest twice-yearly survey was carried out in January 2010, canvassing dealers’ views on a wide range of issues and enabling manufacturers to get a clear idea of opinions about their networks. Dealers award scores on significant aspects of their business relationship with their manufacturer – and the results show a strong performance from Nissan.

When asked “Overall, how do you rate the value of holding your franchise?” Nissan dealers gave a high average score of 8.1 out of 10. This is not only 12.5% higher than the overall average, but also represents a massive 62% improvement over last year’s score. Nissan was positioned joint 7th overall in this section, finishing ahead of key Japanese rivals including Honda and Mazda.

Another Nissan highlight was for the crucial question, “How do you rate your manufacturer's performance in terms of the following: Frequency of introduction of new models?” Thanks to the recent arrival of the Cube and 370Z Roadster, and with the Juke and new Micra coming soon, dealers unsurprisingly award high marks here, scoring an average of 4.5 out of 5 – only two other car makers were rated higher.

When asked to rate the performance of Nissan’s product advertising, dealers obviously had the innovative new Qashqai ad fresh in their minds as they voted a resounding 4.1 out of 5. Compared to the industry average of 3.4 out of five and Nissan’s previous rating of 3.1 out of 5, this shows how Nissan’s advertising is keeping pace with the cutting edge design of its cars.

Yet another notable achievement for Nissan came in the all important area of profit returns. When asked, “How satisfied or dissatisfied are you with the profit return by representing your franchise?” Nissan dealers were unanimous in their praise, resulting in a lofty average of 3.8 out of 5 – only 5 others scored higher.

Planning for a profitable future is crucial to any franchisee, and something that Nissan dealers are also more than happy with. They give the future profitability of their businesses a healthy 80% rating against an industry average of only 70%. All the more impressive when you consider that two years ago Nissan dealers had only 56% confidence in their future profitability.

The survey results also contain proof that Nissan is committed to making life as easy as possible for its dealers. No other car maker could beat Nissan’s 4.4 out of 5 rating for the ease of taxing or registering new or used vehicles with the local DVLA or AFRL facility.

Nissan’s UK MD, Paul Willcox comments: “We always pay a great deal of attention to the views and opinions of our franchised dealers. That so many of them are happier with their Nissan franchise now than they were two years ago is very encouraging, and that we are now the 8th most valued franchise is excellent. We have a first class model line-up and a first class dealer network to help meet the needs of all of our customers.”

Nissan’s National Dealer Association Chairman Michael Finn added: “This is a direct result of a major step forward in many areas but I believe it also represents confirmation from the network that there is a clear understanding on exactly what the Nissan vision is for the future and the benefits that will be associated with it.

We have an exceptional product line up together with a transparent communication strategy from our manufacturer partner.”

Have A Great weekend!!!         Sharyn
