WASHINGTON -- U.S. Rep. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., was planning to introduce former Alaska governor Sarah Palin to a hometown crowd of TEA partiers early next month in Nashville. On Tuesday, she appeared to be having cold feet. …….She was referring to growing protests that the $549-per-person cost of the for-profit TEA Party Nation event Feb. 4-6 at the Opryland Hotel is pricing some grassroots activists out. Some sponsors and supporters are fighting about the nature of the Taxed Enough Already conservative movement and plans to showcase its stars, which include Palin, Blackburn and Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn.
Blackburn said she is interested in hearing from the TEA party groups and has addressed them at previous events. ..She declined to say if she has asked for a review of the event by the Committee on Standards of Official Conduct, the so-called ethics committee. But her spokesman, Claude Chafin, said an official request for review by the ethics panel has been made "out of an abundance of caution." Because it is a for-profit event, Chafin said last week that Blackburn would be limited to talking policy, not partisanship, at the event for conservative activists……..

Racist Tea Party Leader Can’t Spell the N-Word
January 4, 2010
(ChattahBox)—-It comes as no surprise to see tea party members carrying offensive, bigoted or racist signs. During the 9/12 DC march there was plenty of bigotry, racial animus and problems with spelling and grammar. And since the teapartiers starting crashing lawmakers’ town hall meetings we have witnessed ugliness, violence and a disturbing mob mentality. As the tea party movement funded and backed, by various astroturf corporate lobbying groups, such as Dick Armey’s Freedom Works, Our Country Deserves Better PAC and Americans for Prosperity, seeks to become more politically mainstream, members are trying to scrub their racist backgrounds. But Dale Robertson, a Tea Party activist who runs TeaParty.org can’t hide from his racism and his problems with the English language. Robertson misspelled the N-word on a sign he carried at a Houston tea party rally.
According to the Washington Independent, the photo of Robertson and his misspelled N-word sign turned up, after the ResistNet listserv promoted “Liberty Concerts” sponsored by Robertson’s group TeaParty.org. He carried the sign reading, “Congress = Slaveowner, Taxpayer = Niggar” at a tea party rally held in Houston on Feb. 27, 2009. And apparently, Robertson was booted from the Houston rally along with his offensive sign.
